openHouse - Greensburg, Kansas

3 Bedrooms, 1 1/2 Bathrooms, 1450 sq. ft.

 

Designed to meet the Passive House Standard, and LEED-H Platinum Certification.

openHouse is Studio Sunna's fourth place entry in the Chain of Eco Homes Design Competition for affordable housing for Greensburg, Kansas. In the aftermath of a devastating tornado, the residents of Greensburg are rebuilding thier town from the ground up, and they have wisely chosen to embrace green building to the greatest extent possible. This design competition was created in order to develop sustainable and affordable designs for the residents of greensburg.

Studio Sunna's openHouse met the challenge by creating a home that can be built for $154,000 and fit a family of 3-4, while still meeting the LEED Platinum and Passive House standards.

Concordia LEED Platinum Residence - Portland, Oregon

3 Bedrooms, 2 1/2 Bathrooms, 1680 sq. ft. 1 Car Garage

 

The Concordia Residence was designed and developed by Studio Sunna member Zac Blodget, and has the distinction of being the first LEED Platinum Certified single family home in Portland, Oregon.

The compact design met the LEED Platinum standard by being exceedingly energy and water efficient, and by using rapidly renewable and recycled materials extensively. Another important feature of the home is the careful attention that was paid to the home's air quality through the use of non-toxic and VOC-free materials.
